his trail is a short one, just a few hundred feet from the parking area, but it takes you to one of the most easily-accessible, impressive giants of the west coast.

From the parking area off Highway 101, it’s a short walk on a wide graveled trail to this behemoth of a tree. Believed to be nearly 1000 years old, it’s an incredible sight, despite the fact that storms have taken their toll; it partially collapsed in a storm during March of 2014.
