Larison Rock- via Greenwaters Park

Description

For those who take the time to hike the entire 4.0 mile (6.4 km) trail, a majestic forest, with lots of old growth at the lower elevations is available to investigate. Vegetation consists of Douglas fir, western hemlock and rhododendron, which varies in intensity throughout the hike. The upper portion of this trail is often used only to hike to the top of Larison Rock (0.3 mile) which offers great views, except to the east, of the Oakridge area. Trees have increased in height to the point of obscuring the views to the east and southeast.

The trail is open to hikers, horses and mountain bikes. It is most popular with mountain bikers and is a popular loop by utilizing Forest Roads 2102 and 5852. The trail is closed to mountain bikes from November through March due to potential impacts during wet weather. Motorcycles are prohibited.
