PCT section: Hwy. 58 to Charlton Lake

Description

This trail leaves the Waldo Lake Trail near Islet Campground, crosses Forest Road 5898 and continues on toward Forest Road 5897 on a moderate grate where it crosses the road and heads toward Forest Road 4290. Crossing this road, the trail continues on to Charlton Lake. The Pacific Crest Trail is crossed just before reaching the lake.

Charlton Lake is a popular, non-motorized fishing lake. There are several good campsites on the western shore. Most people access this lake by driving to the trailhead on Forest Road 4290 and walking the 0.25 miles to the lake. Several interesting day hikes can be made on adjacent trails. The forest consists of mountain hemlock and pacific silver fir.
