Begin in the Mt. Baker National Recreation Area at the Park Butte Trail and junction off to the Scott Paul Trail after 100 feet from the trailhead. Climb through lush green forest and wind around the base of Mt. Baker through rock gardens, meadows and glacial moraines with magnificent views.

After a few miles the route branches north at an unmarked junction and continues along a steep climbers route to the base of the glacier at Crag View.
